    Just thought Id post this incase it might help anyone with a similar problem in the future.I disabled the Defender Device Security Core Isolation setting in defender then rebooted to apply the change, but then I received the dreaded GSOD or BSOD 0xc000021a, anyway I tried a few of the general troubleshooting options from WINRE but the solution that worked for me was to use System Restore under Troubleshooting - Advanced Options - System Restore. I then choose a restore point before the last point the last restore point didn't work for me but the previous point did and exit WINRE and cross y

    Disable Core Isolation Setting?

    Hi,

    I'm signed in with an administrator account on a Surface Pro. I'm trying to disable the Core Isolation setting in Windows Defender so I can run VMware. I can't selet this because the screen shows "This setting is managed by your administrator.". How can
    I make this change since I'm signed in as the administrator?

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



    It can be the BIOS update released by your manufacturer through windows updates which might have changed the status from Enabled to disabled. However here are the steps to enable it again.



    • Open start menu and search for Windows Defender Security Center.
    • Go to Device Security.
    • You will be able to find Core Isolation, please click on Core Isolation details.
    • Then you can turn it on.

    Restart is restart is required for the changes to be effective. Please write back, if you need any further assistance.

    GSOD or BSOD 0xC000021a after Disabling Core Isolation setting in defender!

    Turning on Core Isolation gives BSOD.

    I recently tried to install PUBG Mobile through Tencent Gaming Buddy. Each time the installation of PUBG within it went to 30%, it would give a BSOD with error "Stop Code: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA". Then, I disabled Core Isolation and Windows Defender
    Periodic Scanning (as I use Avast Premiere). PUBG Mobile installed successfully. But now, after I enabled core isolation and rebooted, the PC crashed with the above error. Please fix this if Core Isolation is that much important.
