Windows 10: GTA V has stopped working

Hi people.

Has anyone been able to get GTA V working on Windows 10? (Pro x64) As soon as I launch it I get the "NSanityHD has signed in." at the Social Club launcher and then just as it attempts to launch the game it crashes. I've been trying to figure this out for the past few days since I upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate. (3 days ago) I've tried to update my Radeon R9 280X drivers as well. The game was working fine on Windows 7. (???)

Also C&C Red Alert 2 AND Battlefield 3 just refuses to launch. The only game I've been able to play without issues is Counter-Strike: Source. I've tried to verify the integrity of the game files using a shortcut with the "-verify" parameter with no luck. (GTA V is the Social Club/Rockstar Games version, not the Steam one)

My libraries folders are stuck on being read only.

The pragmatic solution would be to save the data elsewhere.

You can try right clicking the game launcher and select "Troubleshoot Compatibility" it may be able to fix any issues.

 

I've tried every troubleshoot I can. I had a Microsoft tech remotely connect to my PC to try and resolve it and that guy just messed everything up and disconnected. (No, it wasn't a scammer that connected) The bloke tried to install different display drivers over the version I had. Then he installed a Radeon HD 7900 display driver in Device Manager...he had no idea what he was doing. I've removed my old display drivers with DDU and installed the latest for my Radeon R9 280X for Windows 10 x64 (as the other was an older version for Windows 7) but that didn't work. It still crashes. I'm at a loss.

I have GTAV online working fine on Win10Pro working fine since the free update to Win10 came out !

Go to your Docs Folder the go into GTAV Folder & open Launcher .txt file & post it on here it will tell you why it is not launching ?

What other programs are you running on startup as these may be crashing it ?

Also on Win10 GTAV requires the use of Net Framework 3.0 & 2.0 if you you know how to switch it on

Got To : Control Panel / Programs & Features / Turn Windows Programs On & Off - then tickbox Net Framework 3.0 & download all files.

You may need to verify the GTAV game data ?

Did you not re-download GTAV upon the win10pro install ? you may have an out of date download of gtav ?

 

I just have a clean installation of the game with the DLCs. No mods/cheats/trainers or anything that changes the way the game is meant to be. No textures or anything. I use MSE and MBAM as my security and anti-virus programs and the games executables are allowed in the firewall. I've ticked Net Framework 3.0 and downloaded all the files. I'll try again.

EDIT: Even with the above methods it still does not work.

Also what else have you done to win10pro as in setting ect, if all else fails you should re-install win10 install all drivers use Windows Defender then re-download GTAV, I am running Norton Full Internet Security with no conflicts.

You may need to scramble wipe you os hard drive & game data drive to ensure no previous data is being read as I have had these problems with SSD's in the last year. I know this is a pain is the ass but this way you will know if it is a software / install error or a hardware fault after re-install if it still does not boot ?

I only say re-install because you say Microsoft have remote accessed your system this way everything is a fresh install.

I did some script writing in vbs about 6 months ago but only to tell a program to open in "High Prioity" it had nothing to do with GTAV but GTAV did not boot for me after that & I had to do a full re-install to get it to work - must be their copyright system ???

 

I deleted the GTA5.exe file and launched the GTAVLauncher and redownloaded it (even though that's 600MB taken off my limited data allowance) but that seemed to have fixed the issue. It loaded into storymode without any lag. Game graphics settings are at it's highest/ultra settings as well.
