  1. Gujarati Language inscript keyboard has very few special characters

I wanted to contact Microsoft Ahmedabad for this issue but could not find a way to contact them. This is not a question but a request to add new features to Gujarati language inscript keyboard. As somebody who writes in Gujarati Language with default windows 10 Gujarati Language option not phonetic option, I find it very cumbersome to write different types of special characters like question mark, colon, brackets, slash, backslash, etc. while in Gujarati language mode. I only have two options to do it. Either change the language temporarily to English for that just one symbol or special chara

    :)

  2. Gujarati Fonts in Windows 10

Hi. Thank you for your prompt response. In answer to your questions, see replies in
    bold on the right:

    • Do you want to use the Gujarati language as the default language in your PC?
      NO
    • If not, do you just want it to be one of the input methods and leave the default language as English?
      YES

    With regards to your instructions:

If you want to leave the default language of your PC to English, then we suggest that you add Gujarati as one of the input methods.

    • I cannot add a keyboard because one is already selected for me 'GUJARATI INSCRIPT'.
    • The 'Add A Keyboard' only gives me a greyed out 'GUJARATI INSCRIPT' again.

In relation to Assuming you want to use Gujarati keyboard in Microsoft Word, follow the steps below:

I did forget to select the GU GUJARATI (India) Keyboard in the System Tray when I wrote up my question earlier.

However, when I am in Word and I click on GU, the font automatically switches to Arial Unicode MS?!

When I select Shruti Bold or Shruti Heading, while still remaining with GU I only get the normal English keyboard.

So I am a bit stuck.....and help still required. Can I not just reinstall the Shruti.ttf files for Windows 10 if someone can provide these to me?

    Thanks

  3. Gujarati Fonts in Windows 10

    Hi Altaf,

Though you have added the Gujarati Language Pack successfully, there's a possibility that it's not been set to be the input method. For us to sort out this concern, we would like to know the following information:

    • Do you want to use the Gujarati language as the default language in your PC?
    • If not, do you just want it to be one of the input methods and leave the default language as English?

If you want to leave the default language of your PC to English, then we suggest that you add Gujarati as one of the input methods. Here's how:

    • Open Settings and click Time & language.
    • In the left pane, click Region & language.
    • Under Languages, select the Gujarati language and click Options.
    • Click Add a keyboard and select the keyboard you want to use.
    • Once done, close the Settings window.

Assuming you want to use Gujarati keyboard in Microsoft Word, follow the steps below:

    • Open Microsoft Word.
    • In the System Tray, click the language icon and select the keyboard you want to use as shown below.
Gujarati Language inscript keyboard has very few special characters 8b1f009a-6553-4925-9034-075b6bdbc1ae.png
    • You may now begin typing in your Word document and it should display the language of your preference.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Regards.

Phonetic keyboard for Gujarati language is not available for Windows 10

    Hi,

My name is Angel. I am an Independent Advisor. Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Please refer to the Microsoft help article given below:

Gujarati required English (United States) Base language

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/lang...

Microsoft India recently announced the availability of new phonetic keyboards in Indian languages to members of the Windows Insider Program. The new feature is available in 10 Indian languages including Hindi, Bangla, Tamil, Marathi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Odia,
    Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

As words are typed using the existing keyboard, Indic Phonetic keyboards transliterate them to suggest possible Indic text options. For instance, if we type “namaste” using the Phonetic keyboard, it will automatically suggest नमस्ते / ਨਮਸਤੇ / નમસ્તે in Hindi/Punjabi/Gujarati.

The new Indic Phonetic keyboards have been added to Windows Insider Preview Build 18272 and are in addition to the Indic Traditional INSCRIPT keyboards that are already available.

To set up and use Indic Phonetic keyboards, you’d need to head to Time & Language in Settings, select the language, and add the preferred keyboard. Lastly, enable the phonetic keyboard by clicking on the input indicator on the taskbar (or press the Windows
key + Space) and select the Indic Phonetic keyboard.

Once finalized, the keyboards are expected to be added to Windows 10 later, subsequent to which Indian language users won’t need to download and install any external Input Method Editors (IMEs) to input Indic text in a phonetic style.
