Windows 10: GWFL - Games for Windows Life - Fable 3 DLC content

I purchased Fable 3 awhile ago on Steam and wanted to play it. I have paid and have valid DLC codes but they do not work as I get the "error retrieving purchasing history error "through the GFWL in the games for windows live so they won't download. It is still nice enough to tell me yes my codes are valid this doesn't solve anything or help me out. I can play the main game but none of the DLC content works. Not sure why it can allow me to play the game and that code works but not the DLC.


When you contact steam they just show my receipt that I did purchase it and states this:



"Unfortunately, Fable III - Dog Breed Set does not utilize Steam to manage its items. You will need to contact their Support Team for any questions about your items in that game."

also says the same things for all the other DLC for Fable 3. What can I do to get this to work. Been about 3 months and gone through multiple things and nothing seems to work. Is this something blocked by Microsoft? Are they no longer honoring DLC that we have paid for through Steam?? There is no support page for Microsoft regarding this and anytime I try to contact support I get the run around. Also see other people asking the same question and always the end result is .. just download the cracked version with the DLC which remove XLIVE.

I shouldn't have to do that. I purchased a legitimate copy and shouldn't have to use an illegal method to get something I purchased. Please help! This is the problem with DRM. Everyone wants to protect their property but nobody wants to support the software that protects their property to the consumer .. Just frustrated.

windows live dlc

I did as suggested but Fable 3 is only listed in the xbox version. I have both xbox 360 and xbox one and fable 3 along with dlc works on the consoles with no problem. I have the pc version on disc and that is what I downloaded to my windows 10 pc. I
am able to play the game but when I go to the store there is no connection to windows live. It tells me I previously downloaded these dlc's and I did on my old windows 7 computer, but there appears to be no connection to windows live available and no way
to recover my old downloads (my old pc is long gone). I am able to play so I suppose that I will be limited to playing without the "extrs"

 

Fable 3 and the xbox play

I have Re-Installed fable 3 games for windows live using the cd I bought a few years ago,

I have installed the client Games for windows live and signed in, (as apparently it could still connect to the network to play fable 3)

I then done some research and found out it runs through steam as well (fable 3 is not on steam or atleast any more)

I signed in the xbox live in windows 10 as normal created a short cut to add the games to the list and it still doesnt work.

I still keep getting the error that it cannot connect I have run in admin mode as well to see if that helps an no go, the xbox live recognizes that I have played it in the past in 2015 but this does me know good, any suggestions would be appreciated

 

Fable 3 and the xbox play

Am i right that doing this method is only to see if an app could conflict with fable 3 not installing correctly ? I'm asking because i do a lot of system scans to keep my system clean, but i think that disabling services or startup items as you suggest in
your method is only temporarily to check if there are conflicts, and does not change system settings Permanently. So it is trying each app/service after the other which could make problems, right?

Anyway, i don't need to do this method because i got Fable 3 to work now - not only by copying the fable 3 folders from my old windows installation. Maybe some people can be helped by my method to make the game work:

I copied all the fable 3 folders (also those from "Users"-"AppData") to my new windows installation (Savegame Transfer). Then i uninstalled fable 3, saved games remained after uninstall.

In the meantime, i installed another GamesForWindowsLive game: Batman Arkham City. This game worked (Verifying purchase date) by changing the computer's time to year 2012 or similar during the verify process.

Then, i made a clean fable 3 install, started the game and the Windows-Live-ID-Purchase-Date-Verifier passed directly and the GAME WORKS.

So, i think it really has something to do with the GFWL correctly installed and up-to-date, like suggested in other forums or guides.

By the way, download content in fable 3 is NOT working, is there anyone who could get this to work ?
