Windows 10: GWX Contol Panel unable to turn off Windows upgrades

Discus and support GWX Contol Panel unable to turn off Windows upgrades in Windows 10 Updates and Activation to solve the problem; I just got a message from the GWX Control Panel app that my upgrade options had changed.     GWX Contol Panel unable to turn off Windows upgrades


    I just got a message from the GWX Control Panel app that my upgrade options had changed.
    I opened it up and tried to click on "Click to Prevent Windows Upgrades" and it tries but does not succeed. This has never happened before.
    Has Microsoft implemented some new strategy to foil this app?

    How do I stop WINDOWS 10 UNWANTED INSTALLATION?

    Is
    GWX Contol Panel     one of the methods that did not work for you?
    This would be the first I've heard of a Win 10 installation actually being able to get past it.

    Ovi 2.2.1.23 doesn't sync

    OK I too have this problem using 5230 and Vista 64



    There is a very cumbersome workaround which works every time for me



    1) Turn off bluetooth to stop OVI Suite connecting via Bluetooth

    2) Reboot

    3) Windows Contol Panel/Programs and Features/Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver/Change/Repair

    4) Windows Contol Panel/Programs and Features/PC Connectivity Solution/Change/Repair

    5) Connect via USB and then Sync works



    What would be nice would be if Nokia fixed this problem which they are aware of

    I tried responding a few hours ago but we had a prolonged power outage here. Temperature got up to 111 degrees. A/C's were running at full capacity.
    I have not noticed that on my system. Did you try manually changing the Windows Update settings? You could temporarily shut off Windows Update (Don't check for updates) and "Check for updates and make sure that "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates" is unchecked. You could manually check for updates when the second Tuesday rolls around.
    A couple of other options:
    (1) If you have a Windows Pro version you can turn off "future" OS updates using GPEdit. I believe this is basically what the following does.
    (2) You could also install Never10 from grc.com.

    It turns out that a program called Mailwasher was causing the problem. As soon as I uninstalled it the GWX problem disappeared.
