Title pretty much sums it up. I had a key that I couldn't get to stop firing so I installed some software to disable it. The software apparently starts with the pc, so I can't login now. What can I do?

    PC Key Power Switch

Hey! I'm how do I make a PC key power switch? This is the keylock I'm going to use: http://www.biltema.com/no/Bil---MC/Bil-tilbehor/Bilelektrisk/Strombryter/Tenningslas-43076/
    It has:
    • Universal threepositioning ignitionlock. Has following functions: off, ignition and start (rebounding/momentary).
    • Delivers with 2 keys.
    • Screw-connection.
    • Mountinghole: 25 mm.
So I want it to be exactly like this: You turn it on like a normal car. You twist the key to a certain point, and it springs back. Like in the video
The normal power button should not be involved. You just turn the key to start and stop. And I was wondering, in this situation the way I want this, it is possible to take the key out without turning the power off and do you turn it off by twisting it in the same direction again?

    FN keys disabled

    Hi Larry,

Although there is a setting for enabling Fn keys in the BIOS, there's a chance that this might be just from the device setting and it may differ depending on what device you are using since it is programmed by the manufacturer.

To disable or enable the function key (fn) in the BIOS, simply follow these steps:

    • Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    • Press the F10 key to open the BIOS setup window. (Key may also depend, some devices needs to hold down the
Esc key to be opted to the BIOS settings.)
    • Navigate to the System Configuration option but using the right or left arrow keys.
    • Use the up or down arrow keys to navigate to the Action Keys Mode option, and then press the
Enter to display the Enable / Disable menu.
    • Select the desired mode.

Had a key that was stuck, installed a program to disable it. Restarted my pc, key is in my... c02035200.jpg
    • Press the F10 key to save the selection and restart the computer.

If issue persist, we recommend you to check with your device Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)
    for more appropriate solution.

Let us know if you need further help.

OLPC XO Keyboards Plagued by Widespread 'Stuck Key' Problems

Using cheap parts to build computers, leads in most cases to a serial failure in some of the PCs components, and OLPC's 'Give 1 Get 1' XO laptops are no exception. Many participants in the program are now encountering what has come to be known as the 'stuck key' problem, in which one or more of the keys on their XO-1 laptop's built-in keyboard become stuck in an activated position, or are activated when adjacent keys are pressed. As of January 30th, the official word from OLPC is that the root cause of this problem is unknown because "there are several manufacturers of the keyboards". It is also unknown just how widespread this problem currently is, as the 30-day manufacturer's warranty has already expired for most G1G1 participants. However, the OLPC forums are full of reports. OLPC is currently deploying the XO-1 to children in Mongolia and Peru, as well as other developing nations. Meanwhile, members of the forums are also reporting that by taking the keyboard out of the XO laptop and rubbing on the underlying sensor, you might fix the stuck key, but that's not a 100% solution. There's also a workaround, to disable the stuck key and assign its function to other key of the keyboard by typing these commands.
