I caught a good one, spam and spyware everywhere. Cleaned it with malwarebytes, Superantispyware, MB Rootkit, and Ccleaner.

Computer runs as it should except now anytime I open up chrome and use the yahoo search engine it becomes a Bing search.

    Any Ideas?

    :)

  2. Why do I have to use Bing for my search function on my Lumia 810?

Only select geographic areas/phone carriers are allowed to change the default search engine from Bing.

What is your problem with Bing though? What specifically needs to improve? I've been using it as my main search engine for over a year now and have been more than satisfied.

Today for no apparent reason BING is now my search engine, google is the default, I have tried making others the default search engine but always it comes back to Bing when I do a search. I don't mind but for the fact google lets you search using the address
bar bing just comes back with can't find with the link 'Search for what you want' then gives me the results. In the setting Google is the default so why is Bing being defaulted?

Not a known virus as defender or other malware programs find no fault.

Anyone know about this and know the fix?

    Give AdwCleaner a try.

    Malwarebytes | AdwCleaner

Sometimes it finds things other programs don't.

    Check your settings in Chrome.
I don't have Chrome or I would take a look.

  5. I checked extensions and search engines, bing is nowhere to be found and it still redirects me.

Then you are probably not 100% clean. Try resetting all your browsers.

Try running a FULL SCAN while in offline mode.

Check your installed programs, chances are you have some PUPs (potentially unwanted programs) from the virus, anything you don't recognise, just uninstall and do as eLPuSHeR suggested, good luck!

Had a virus now bing is my main search engine?

Open Google....click on Settings (3 dots top right corner)
Under Search Engine click on Manage Search Engines....click on arrow, then 3 dots on preferred Search Engine to reveal choices.....choose to make default.

  11. I've tried everything short of a clean reinstall.

No mention of bing in my settings nor search engines, ran the cleaners all night back to back to back. System is 100% clean and I even manually went through my system32 and program file directories searching for anything affected from that date or looked out of the ordinary.

Rig is still running smooth so though it could be worse so I guess I can live with it.

Doesn't Chrome save your settings to the cloud and sync your machine next time you use it? Could that be what keeps putting Bing back?

I take that back, I just found something I'm not comfortable with floating in my system 32 folder... Uphrdxssvc.exe

I have never seen it before running in my task manager. Can't end its task, I tried to delete it with unlocker and SuperAntiSpywareDelete. It just keeps coming back.

  15. I don't think that's the same file. The property details list it as Toshiba Corporation. I don't think I have any Toshiba in my machine, self built from the ground up.

I did however fix the Bing redirect... I uninstalled and deleted every single trace of Chrome and then reinstalled. All fixed up.
