    Windows 10 pc and phone linking

    Yes, you can but a lot of the linking by syncing over the air or wirelessly. There is a phone companion app though that lets you setup both.

    Sync email from desktop to your smartphone?

    I was hoping that finally I can sync my Windows phone with Outlook on the desktop, but it isn't likely.

    It seems that this app is pretty much useless on my Windows phone for the purpose of syncing all my emails (6 email accounts) from Outlook on my desktop to my phone. On the other hand, this app will do just that for the Android and iOS platform. *Sad

    What problems do you have syncing

    I have outlook on the desktop and it syncs fine with my win phone (outlook, gmail, yahoo and personal domain email)

    I have no need for this app, my win phone is already set up with everything syncing

    From how I understand it, if using iOS/Android the app just points you to the MS apps in the relevant app store, on win phone this is not needed as the apps are pre installed

    Currently I can sync the calendar and contacts, but not email accounts between the desktop and the phone. It used to be the Hotmail connector with Outlook 2010, but with Outlook 2013 it is Exchange active sync used. There are third-party apps that do sync email accounts as well, but I don't use them.

    How do you sync your desktop email accounts with the phone?

    In outlook 2013 I use the exchange activesync for outlook/hotmail (think this was the default when I added the account)
    Other accounts I use IMAP

    On my phone, outlook/hotmail was added automatically when I set up the phone
    other accounts I set up manually using IMAP

    I had to connect my phone several times and launch the app several times to finally get it to work.
    Kind of a useless app though.

    Outlook/Hotmail accounts will sync through the cloud. POP3 or IMAP email accounts don't, but they can be added manually for both the desktop and the phone. Both platforms will get the emails, but it has nothing to do with activesync. It's quite evident when sending emails from these accounts from either platform. The sent email only shows up on the platform's "Sent" folder from where it's sent from and not on the other platform.

    At best, Phone Companion is just partial sync as oppose to full sync for the iPhone and Android. Yes, there are apps that can sync other than Outlook/Hotmail email accounts, but activesync/Hotmail connector does not do that. Even if it is called Phone Companion now...

    I used to have an iPhone that had no issues with syncing with Outlook via a USB cable, or BlueTooth. There was no need for cloud either, direct sync between the desktop and iPhone. Activesync or Hotmail connectors do not work with direct links, they only work with the cloud...

    I am getting confused what you are trying to achieve, Phone companion app is not a sync app, its an app for getting MS software on your device

    So for iOS/Android it gets you to install the Outlook app, similar to the one that is built into win phones

    you don't need 3rd party aps to sync Hotmail/android, Outlook app for iOS/Android does it and on win phones its built in, Outlook 2013 also has it built in

    I have just tried sending an email, the sent email appears on phone, outlook, outlook.com, windows mail app
    that was sending from google and also outlook account, all is in sync

    My bad, I've misunderstood the purpose of this app...

    With my Windows phone, desktop Outlook 2013, only the outlook.com accounts synced; others had been added manually, but they don't sync. You have link how to set the sync up for all accounts? TIA...

    Crashes for me too (in 10162). A window appears, then it disappears before I can do anything.
