Windows 10: Handsfree Audio the only option in Windows 10, cannot connect to stereo says it's disconnected

Hello. I've been having an issue for a while where I'll be able to listen to good quality audio on my phone with earbuds, but not on my computer. Everytime I connect my Buds 2 to my computer, the audio quality is terrible and I can't change it from handsfree to stereo, as stereo says it's "disconnected" for no reason even though my earbuds are fully connected to my PC. I've also tried troubleshooting and searching the whole internet for possible answers, but can't find any related to the issue that I'm having. Bluetooth Headphones will only connect to Handsfree Audio, not Stereo (Stereo is disconnected)

The Bluetooth headphones that I'm using are the JBL E45BTs and when I connect my headphones to my Windows 10 PC, the sound quality is terrible and there's no option to switch it to Stereo. I checked the Sound Playback list and saw that the Stereo option was disconnected for no reason. I don't know how to connect to the Stereo mode, as right-clicking and selecting "Connect" doesn't do anything. When I tried to change the sound quality on the Handsfree mode, the option is greyed out and I can't change anything. There are a lot of people saying that unchecking the Handsfree Telephony option will make it better, but all it does is remove my sound until I check it back on. I tried reinstalling the drivers, but that didn't do anything. Any help will be appreciated.

 

Audio streaming hiccups while connected to car stereo and MS Band - using HTC One M8

• Phone: HTC One M8 Windows Phone on Verizon - fully updated
• MS Band: fully updated
• Location & Connectivity: In my car and connected to both the car stereo and Band via Bluetooth
• Activities:
  • Streaming audio through car stereo (xbox music, TuneIn Radio or ESPN Radio)
  • Band receiving notifications from phone
• Problem:
  • When the band syncs (seems to be every 15 minutes) or i get any notifications, it causes severe hiccups to my audio stream
• MS Band Support says there is no option to change frequency of notifications. The only solution they can provide is to manually disconnect the band from the phone by disabling Bluetooth or going to airplane mode. They suggested I reach out to phone support
  to see if there is a way to prioritize Bluetooth connections on a windows phone.

Here are some more details. My laptop is ASUS ROG GL502VS. I tried this with Jabra Elite 65t and Jabra Stealth, both of which support A2DP. The pairing goes smoothly and everything seems to be installed correctly.











Note that the stereo device is present as well as the Audio Sink service in the headset. However the Headphone audio output is "disconnected".





Right-clicking on the Headphones entry and choosing "Connect" does absolutely nothing. No error messages, no reaction at all. The entry stays disconnected. Disconnecting the Handsfree first does not help. Unticking the Handsfree Telephony service in the device properties does not help. Rebooting, re-pairing, installing the latest driver, clean reinstall of the driver via safe mode does not help.

A bit of history

This worked fine a few days ago. Then at some point I turned on my headphones and got a Blue Screen of Death. I blame some automatic update because I didn't update anything myself. I only uninstalled Razer Synapse before that happened, which might or might not be a coincidence. I couldn't connect to Bluetooth Stereo after that.
