Windows 10: Handsfree issues with calls

so I just bought a headset to play video games with friends during the confinement and it worked immediately... until I tried connecting to Discord.

it muted everything else, forcing discord onto the "headset", essentially turning off the stereo headphones.

this is a big problem because not only does that mean I have to manually switch apps on the headset every time for a crappy sound, it ends up having terrible quality beyond that.

for exemple, when I use the very same headset on Discord from my phone, the quality of the same mic becomes way better.

so here's my question: is there a way to prevent Windows from pulling this crap, at all?

it's a ridiculous issue. I saw that it was supposed to "prevent quality drops by freeing bluetooth bandwidth" but it's the equivalent of burning your house to prevent your toasts to burn.

I just want to use the stereo headphones with the handsfree mic. Discord even allows me to select the stereo headphones, but windows prevents it!!

only solution I found that allows me to hear Discord in stereo was unchecking "handsfree" in the device's settings but then the mic doesn't work!





what the hell?? I got 3 friends using bluetooth headsets and they work just fine with seemingly equal hardware. the only reason I have this problem is because windows decided to f*ck with it and won't let me disable that "feature"!!

Bluetooth handsfree?

on the ATT Blackjack, when placing a handsfree call from the contacts list, using Acura TL handsfree link, when the call is connected, handsfree switches off uncommanded and requires the user to select 'handsfree on' even though there is a headset (the
car handsfree) registered / connected the whole time... is there someway to fix that?

 

Bluetooth handsfree?

it works the same everytime:

- connect bluetooth to car as handsfree

- find contact and initiate call

- while 'connecting' checking menu confirms 'handsfree on'

- once connected, 'handsfree off' and call is routed to handset

- menu to turn 'handsfree on' works and call is transferred to car



initiating call from car works fine



so the Blackjack / Windows Mobile / or the Bluetooth protocol is incorrectly selecting 'handsfree off' at the moment the call is connected



everything else works fine, dialing from car, answering calls, switching lines, etc.



interestingly, I tested the Samsung A717 and it works correctly, suggesting the Samsung Bluetooth implementation is correct and it's a WM5 thing

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
