    Hanging or DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION during Windows 10 Install


    Windows 10 Installation is hanging on "Getting Files Ready for Installation" at various percentages, and frequently results in BSoD with Stop code: DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION.


    This is a new build with the following specs:


    GIGABYTE AORUS Z390 ULTRA Motherboard

    Intel Core i7-9700K

    G.SKILL TRIDENTZ F4-3000C16D-32GTZR


    Tried two different SSDs:


    Samsung SSD 970 EVO

    Cheap IPSG 120GB 2.5" SSD


    Tried Installing from two different USB sticks and an external BD drive.


    We've replaced the Motherboard, CPU, and RAM all separately.


    I've reformatted the drives dozens of times, and cleared CMOS about 5 times as well. UEFI settings are on default.


    We're about ready to send everything back. Never seen this on the prolly about 30 PCs I've built.

    Hi Kathy,

    To assist you further, kindly answer the questions below:

    • Have you made any changes to your computer prior to this issue?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
    • Have you tried the troubleshooting steps on this
      link       that was provided by Billion Debbarma on September 19, 2015 and see if you will still encounter the same issue?

    DPC Watchdog Violation

    I have an HP desktop that upgraded to windows 10. I continue to have the DPC Watchdog Violation blue screen. Any suggestions?

    PS I do not have a IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers on my device manager
