    Hard Disk Failure Imminent


    The last two times I've booted my laptop it has stopped loading and displayed a message along the lines of "Hard disk failure imminent to avoid not data loss yes it words it like that please back up your drive and preform disk repair from system diagnostic window - press enter to continue." So I press enter and it seems to boot okay but then I try to find system diagnostics window and I can't find anything it and I check the hard disk for errors and it can't find any. This message started showing up after the last update, it rebooted after installing but this message came up and I needed to

    Hard disk failure is imminent.

    When starting my computer I sometimes get a message that Hard Disk Failure Imminent. Please back up your hard disk and have it replaced. Press F10 for Setup. F2 to continue. The first time I got this screen it clicked on F2 and Windows opened and all
    seemed fine. Now I have the same black screen with same message but when clicking on F2, the computer does nothing. I have not back up my hard disk. What can I do to save this situation or am I just out of luck?

    Greg, you have lost me with all this info. First I cannot seem to get to anything on my computer. Tried to shut down and reopen and it goes right back to the black screen with the Hard disk failure is imminent message. I am not even certain that my wireless
    keyboard is even working now. What a mess. If I cannot get to any diagnostics on my computer, how do I begin to try and address the problem?

    Windows 10 upgrade problem...Hard Disk Failure Imminent!

    As suggested I have waited 7 days and rerun Chkdsk on my problem Samsung laptop again (22Oct2016). It again took 5 hours to run and spent much of that time stuck at 11% complete. No more bad clusters found (I think), but the computer is still issuing
    imminent hard disk failure warnings and running slowly.

    I also tried the Samsung utility, but the 2008 website sent me to Seagate which did not accept the serial numbers from the back of my computer. I tried to find alternatives unsuccessfully?

    Not sure what to do now; can I repair this hard disk? If so how?
