Hard-disks are not being detected in Windows and in the BIOS

    There are two hard-disks:

Hard-disk 1 Secondary in new `n old computers

Hard-disk 2 Secondary in new, but primary bootable in old, computers

Some time ago, my hard-disk 1, that I had put in my new computer from my old computer, was working fine. But one day, when I wanted to put some data in my hard-disk 1, I realized, that it isn't showing up in Windows Explorer. What I did was, I tried swapping the cables of the hard-disk 1 but that didn't work. So, as I had one more hard-disk hard-disk 2 in my old computer, I tried using that in my new computer, but that also didn't worked. And, surprisingly, when I put my hard-disk 2 back in the old computer, it didn't worked there also, but earlier it used to! And, as I remember about hard-disk 2, it isn't being detected in the BIOS also. So, could anyone tell me what has happened to these disks? If any other details are required, then tell me.

    :)

Internal hard drive not getting detected after upgrading the computer to Windows 10

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that after upgrading your computer to Windows 10, the 8TB internal hard drive is not getting detected. I’ll certainly help you with the issue.

    However, please let us know:

    • How did you upgrade the computer to Windows 10?
    • Are you able to see the hard drive in BIOS?
    • Are you using a Desktop or a Laptop?
    • What is the make and model of the computer you are using?

I would suggest you to check if the hard drive is being detected in BIOS. If the hard drive is not being detected in BIOS, then it could be a connectivity issue between the hard drive and the motherboard.

However, if the hard drive is getting detected in BIOS, I would suggest you to try updating the storage drivers from the computer manufacturer’s website and see if that helps.

    Let us know the results.

Hard-disks are not being detected in Windows and in the BIOS

Problems with disk drive on DELL Inspiron Computer i560-3102MNK uses Windows 7 and has 6GB Memory with 1TB Hard drive

    Hello Kelly,

It is possible that the issue could be hardware-related. We'd like to know if the hard drive is still being detected from the BIOS or Disk Management. To access Disk management, please follow the steps below:

    1. From the Start Menu, right-click on the Computer icon and choose Manage from the context menu.
    2. Click on Disk Management, which appears in the left-hand side under the heading Storage.
    3. The list of the hard drives available is now be visible in the center of the window.

If you're able to find the hard disk from the list, you can try to create a partition on your hard disk. Please refer to this link:
Create a partition on a Windows 7 Hard Disk.

If you're unable to find the hard drive, it is possible that the hard drive is failing. I suggest that you contact the device manufacturer for further assistance.

Let us know if you have any other concerns.
