Hard disks detected in bios (with win10) and still no possibility to boot?

    Hello,

after I made it with my computer system into the Bios there is the following problem.

In the storage information all my hard drives (SSD 256GB 1x with win10, HDD 2TB 2x for storage) will be recognized, I have the following problem that I can not boot from my SSD or what it is not even shown in the boot options.

I went through all the BOIS settings and checked the wiring and the boards for damage, but in no case was there a problem.

  2. hard disk is being detected but not appearing in boot order

check in BIOS if you can set the hard disk priority to primary; if you don't have that option, check the hard disk configuration if you can access it for anything unusual.

    if you can boot from the WIN CD, but it can't find any windows operating system installed, it's possible the boot partition of the hard disk was corrupted;

you might want to also consider reseting CMOS and loading default BIOS configuration - you can do this by turning all power off, and turning off the switch on the power supply (or unplugging the computer), then remove the CMOS battery on the motherboard. Wait 15min (1 hour if you really want to be sure), reinstall the battery, and power everything back on. BIOS will then load default values and have to redetect your hardware.

  3. Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's bios menu.

    Hi Matthew,

There are several possible reasons as to why your computer is not detecting an SSD drive. This could be caused by incorrect BIOS settings or device drivers that need to be updated. Since you already tried the suggestion of Andre Da Costa and this allowed
your computer to detect the SSD already, we would like to further clarify your concern by asking the questions below:

    • If you were already able to install Windows on the SSD, have you already attempted to change the boot order in the BIOS menu?
    • Which version of Windows did you install on the SSD?
    • What other troubleshooting steps have you attempted?

We look forward to your response to our queries.

Hard disks detected in bios (with win10) and still no possibility to boot?

Running Win10 pro clobbers Win7 hard disk

Obviously I have to be more detailed about the configuration:

All my desktops and notebooks have the same configuration:

4 partitions, named Boot, Application, Data and User Data.

Step 1: To be able to test Win 10 I made a 1to1 copy of my Win7 hard disk to another hard disk and disabled the original installation. After that I made an update from Win7 Ult to Win8 pro on the copied disk, as mentioned I have three Win8 installion packs
bought but never used it after testing!

Step2: Downloading Win 10pro and upgrade the Win8 installation, all this takes time but Win10 worked as expected.

Step 3: Enable in BIOS hard disk with Win7Ult, reboot win10, 2nd hard disk is correctly recognized and Win10 is working.

Step 4: Switching off hard disk (already in an switchable environment) with Win10 installation and reboot hard disk with Win7Ult, error message shows up, that the partitions have to bee checked!

I hope this will clarify the subject

    Regards

    Luigi
