Windows 10: hard drive completely missing from windows 10

How do i find my hard drive?It does not show up in device manager, it does not appear in disk management.Could this be caused by a corrupted driver?I have never had this issue before.

Hi Again,

I applied the first suggestion, but nothing has changed. It said that there were problems and that I had to restart the computer to apply changes, but I haven't notice any difference. Still cannot use drives

Tried second option, but on the Device manager, Disk drivers, there was no DVD/CD Rom drives. It only contained Ricoh Memory Stick Disc Device, Rico SD/MMC Disc Device and WDC WD 50000...so not able to update software, because it's not there...

Any other suggestions....

The above issue might have occurred due to the non-updated or corrupted hard drive drivers installed on the computer.



Before we assist further, I would like to ask you a few questions:

• 
  How did you upgrade to Windows 10 (via Windows Updates or Media Creation Tool)?
  
• 
  Did you check if other system drives are accessible?
  
• 
  Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling the device drivers?
  

Running the troubleshooter will help in detecting and identifying the issue and in certain cases will fix the same to enhance the performance of the system.



Method 1: Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by following the steps below and check for the corrupted or missing device driver components.

• 
  Press Windows logo key on the keyboard, type
  troubleshooter and select the top most search result.
  
• 
  Click on View all from left side panel of the screen.
  
• 
  Select Hardware and Devices, click on
  Advanced option and check Apply repairs automatically
  option.
  
• 
  Follow the on screen instructions and wait for the troubleshooting to complete.
  
• 
  Close the window after troubleshooting is completed and check for the status shown on the window.
  

Method 2: If the issue persists, update the hard drive drivers manually from
Device manager by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• 
  Press Windows logo + X keys on the keyboard and select
  Device manager from the context menu.
  
• 
  Expand Disk drivers and DVD/CD-ROM drives to see the drivers of the hard drive installed on the computer.
  
• 
  Right click on the driver and select Update this software from the context menu (perform the action for one drive at a time).
  
• 
  Follow the onscreen instructions and wait for the update to complete.
  
• 
  After the update is complete, close the window and check if the changes are effective.
