  1. Hard drive Extend Volume question

Hello,I have a Windows 2019 Datacenter server configured with 4 hard drives in a RAID 5. I added 6 additional hard drives. I made the 6 new drives ONLINE and initialized with GUID, and they are all Unallocated. The drive that has our VMs is using ReFS and is a primary partition. I right mouse the drive in Disk Management and select Extend Volume. In the wizard I select the 6 drives that were added. When I click Finish I get a warning:The operation you selected will convert the selected basic disks to dynamic disks. If you convert the disks to dynamic, you will not be able to start instal

Can't Extend Volume of hard drive.

    Hello,

I have formatted and deleted a partition on my hard drive resulting in unallocated space. I wish to extend the hard drive C: volume into the unallocated space, but can't as this option is greyed out in disk management. How can I achieve extending the hard
    drive C: volume? I'm on Windows 10 64-bits.

    Thanks in advance

How to extend OS drive volume in Windows 10.?

    Hi Smruti,

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern and will assist you to resolve this issue.

I suggest you to follow the steps below

    • Run Disk Management. Open Run Command (Windows button +R) a dialog box will open and type "diskmgmt.msc".
    • In the Disk Management screen, just right-click on the partition that you want to shrink, and select “Extend Volume” from the menu
    • Locate your system partition — that’s probably the C: partition. Right-click on it and select “Shrink Volume.” If you have multiple partitions on your hard drive, you could also choose to resize a different partition to free up space.
