Windows 10: Hard drive failure, do I need to reinstall windows ?

Hi all,


i have a Lenovo Ideapad 310-15ABR and it froze , turned off then wouldn’t boot back up. I managed to get into settings and realised the hard drive was not recognised. I have a new hard drive arriving from Amazon today. Is it a case of removing the old hard drive and replacing it with the new? Would the laptop then install windows onto the new hard drive or do i need a usb to boot it? Any help would be appreciated.

• unhooked HDD
• restarted
• yay !!
• reconnected HDD
• restarted
• yay !!

• Are you trying to reinstall Windows 8 or Windows 10?
• If you already upgraded to Windows 10, were you able to create a new copy of the recovery drive?

Projected Hard drive failure issue

I have an HP laptop that boots up to error "Smart hard drive check has detected imminent failure". I have no issue with replacing the hard drive but have no idea how to get Windows 10 reinstalled/recovered. Currently files/photos/ect. are backed up. Any
suggestions are greatly appreciated.
