    Hard Drive Failure on a 18 month old HP tower computer


    Using all the tools the web stated to use all commands - no good. Hard drive is shot. Had to bring it to a Computer tech shop to find out - my hard drive is dead. It just happened from shutting down the starting up 2 hours later. They could not tell me how either .

    Hard drive failure imminent

    My HP laptop bought 2016 gave me a hard drive failure imminent alert. I bought a new hard drive and handed it over to a repair tech.

    He had stated that the partitions have been damaged and wants to know my Windows 10 smart key before he begins to install the new hard drive.

    I have no idea how to get that information. I also know less than zero about computer hardware or software.

    What steps can I take to get this code needed? I've been without my laptop for 2 months now and it is financially becoming a burden as I can't process any custom orders. I depend on that third job to keep afloat, now more than ever, my second job just eliminated
    due to covid.

    Please, if you have suggestions, I really need to hear them.

    new system old hard drive...

    I have an old hard drive that has those old ribbon connections to transfer data to the mother board.

    I have a new computer that mostly uses those cool little ATA (I think that is what they are called) connections.

    The new computer has a Vista OS.

    I opened up the case and I was supprised to see on the motherboard a wide ribbon connection and so I connected the old hard drive and a free power connection.

    When I turned on the computer, the system started up like usual and did not notice the new hard drive.

    I went to the Control Pannel and did an automatic add hard drive call and it did not find the old hard drive.

    Any suggestions?

    Upgrading HP SSD drive on HP 750-524

    I purchased an HP Envy tower with a 128Gb SSD which is where Windows is installed, I have purchased a new 1TB SSD drive that I would like to replace the 128 GB drive with. My machine did not come with the Windows 10 Media, what steps do I need to take before
    I install the new drive and install windows.

    • Where do I get the Windows 10 install
    • What steps are needed to create an Install disk
    • Do I have to deactivate my old install before removing the old drive.
    Please let me know if there are any other considerations.
