Windows 10: Hard Drive Format during Update

UPDATE:
After mega trouble of getting Insider status back after a hard drive replacement, and many hours of help from LCmdr (thank you again sir) I was able to rejoin. My first function of course was to update. While downloading the update and getting my last reboot, the computer came on, all I got was HP warnings telling me I did not have an Operating System and I should install one. NOTE: Once the update had started I did not touch the computer till I saw the HP warning.
Now I remember Einstein saying something like "anyone who keeps doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is an idiot". Well apparently our friendly techs at HP in India had never heard the expression. They sent me two different restore disks by email (I had one already) which took hours to burn to a thumb drive. We then waltzed thru the next 70 hours doing the same thing over and over and over again. I finally gave up and hung up, with no result from their restore disks.
I finally called the place I purchased the computer and told them of my situation. The told me to bring it in. They restored my computer in about four hours with software I believe they said they got from HP.
My question is how can a vendor have restore software from HP and their own technicians have no access to it ?

Windows 10 - Install does not properly restart

I'm running a clean install on a blank formatted drive. So after the first restart (during the installation) should it boot to the bootable usb or to the hard drive? I have the boot order set for hard drive first, usb second. The mobo is a 2008 model,
but UEFI boot is enabled. (I was running ubuntu 15.04 64-bit on this hardware before formatting the drive).

 

Can't access Windows 10 formatted C Drive

Something went wrong during recent Windows 10 update and Windows 10 Laptop can not be restored. So before clean reinstall of Windows 10, I removed the Hard Drive from Laptop to copy files from it as an external Hard Drive but unlike older Windows versions,
I get the Access Denied message and can not access contents of this Hard Drive (Windows 10 formatted C Drive from my Laptop).

 

UPDATE: As you may have read in my earlier posts I was having extreme difficulty with Insider Update KB4034674 162571 v3.
After waiting 18 hours for the download and then going to install, on the final reboot I got the same HP message about needing to install an OS. I tried one more time (Einstein forgive me) but this time after a hard drive format and a clean install of Windows 10 home.
Slam, boom, golly...the same poop happened again. I shudda listened to Einstein ("anyone who keeps doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is an idiot".). So now I have formatted, clean installed Windows 10 again. I have a question. I guess what I need to do is save my stuff to the Cloud "OneDrive" and be done. Problem is "One Drive gives me 1TB on Windows and the same on Office 365. Not enough. (sure wish Windows still had the Unltd space on 365).
Here's the query: Is there any where I can get Cloud type storage that will exceed what I have (2Tbyte)? I would also be willing to pay but I'm afraid of searching and finding some storage from "Joe's Basement Server" and see him posting my pictures of me as a Chippendale Dancer (LOL).
Any suggestions o' loyal and helpful friends?

 

Ummmmmm.......Do you have any idea how long it would take to transfer 2TB of data over the internet to cloud storage? I would estimate about a week. Not to mention if you have data limits from your internet provider or not. Ideally, I would install a 3TB hard drive in the computer because it would transfer faster than an external hard drive, but external 3TB hard drives are less than $100 now.

If you are really concerned about redundancy, then go with a RAID enclosure with 2x 3TB hard drives in it. I have two of those on my network.

Even with a gigabit network, copying my nearly 2TB of movies to a USB 3.0 hard drive takes about 1.5 days. Unfortunately, the USB 3.0 drive I have is a Western Digital which has the USB 3.0 adapter board soldered onto the hard drive itself, so I can't pop it out and connect it to a SATA port.

 

Thank you Commander for your insight. Installing an internal hard drive is not possible at this point, it would totally void any warranty I have left on the PC.I do have many old "Film Noir" movies and your advice is well founded. I have just ordered a 4TB external hard drive from Amazon. I will gladly spend time adding backup files to that as well as the important films I want to keep.
Do you recommend any backup program? I used to use Norton Ghost in the old days, but I think there is better than that. Once again thanks for the help!
