    Hard drive not showing anywhere except other devices


    Toshiba Hard drive not showing up anywhere on HP 440 G7, it's a Toshiba 1 terabyte, I originally thought it was a hard drive or SATA cable but when I inut the hard drive in another computer it shows and when I place another hard drive in the computer it showsI'm currently running windows 10, the hard drive is a mq04abf100 I've tried everything I can think of

    Thank you for posting back.

    • How are you connecting the Hard drive to your computer?
    • Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a different computer and check if it works?

    It's possible that your USB drivers are corrupt. I suggest you to try the following steps and check.

    • Press Windows Key +R and type
      devmgmt.msc       to open Device manager.
    • Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers
      at the left bottom.
    • Right-click the first USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then click on
      Uninstall to remove it.
    • Repeat these steps for the entire USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    • Restart the computer. After the computer starts, Windows will automatically scan for hardware changes and reinstall all the USB controllers that you uninstalled.

    External Hard Drive

    Hi John,

    We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

    • Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
    • Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.
    The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

    To answer your query about your computer's hard drive brand, you can follow the steps below:

    • Right-click Windows Start, then choose Device Manager.
    • Expand the Disk drives section and it will show the brand and the model of the hard drive you have.
