Windows 10: Hard drive partitions missing

Hello,

My HP Laptop was originally a 1TB Laptop with three partitions C,D and E and these partitions were I guess made by the retailer who sold me the laptop not really sure if he made the partitions or they were originally there, after few months of usage I started to realize that when I open "This PC" only the C drive is visible which is of 237GB. So after searching about the problem online, I also checked the disk/ storage management and found out that only 237GB C drive is visible. I have no clue as to what happened to the rest 760GB of storage in my laptop, how can it just vanish. Also once in few days the laptop takes some extra time to start and when it does, two folders auto open on start. Whenever this happens the other two drives are visible in This PC with full storage available. But when I shut down and start the laptop again it vanishes. PS: those other two drives were empty from the very start, that's why I luckily didn't loose any data but now my first drive C is about to get full so I need that storage of mine.

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

 

Partition or multiple hard drives?

As the title suggests. Is it worth installing say a 36GB drive for the OS soley or partitioning an existing larger drive with either 2 or more partitions? I am currently running Vista 32bit and want to try out 64bit and am sick of reformatting the whole drive. Any suggestions?
