Hi,I'm having a problem with what possibly be my hard drive, it started when I went to BIOS to change some case fan settings, but after saving changes and leaving, the PC rebooted and it started automatic repair. I tried to reset my PC, diagnose startup problems, restart but none of them worked, only after shutting down my PC and disconnecting the HDD it stopped going into a loop and sent me to my desktop.Help would be much appreciated, thank you!

Two PCs go in to automatic repair mode after Windows 10 update

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us. Windows 10 computers may have encountered a system file corruption that caused this issue. For us to assist you better, kindly answer the following questions:

    • Is this an update for Windows 10 1709 or 1703?
    • Do you have a USB flash drive/bootable media?
    • Have you made any recent changes to Computer no. 1 that couldn't perform a reset? Have you added a new hardware?
    • Have you tried running a check disk from the Recovery screen?

Meanwhile, we suggest that you perform a Startup repair and see if you'll be able to perform a system restore on Computer 1. Kindly follow the steps below:

    • Boot to Advanced Startup Options from a hard reboot. Press and hold the power button on your PC until it powers off and until it powers on.
    • Wait until you see the Windows logo screen or Please wait
during boot. Usually it may take repeating up to 3 times.
    • Select See advanced repair options.
    • Under Advanced Startup Options, select
      Troubleshoot.
    • Select Advanced options. Under Advanced options, select
      Startup Repair.
    • If prompted, select an administrator account to provide credentials for approval, type in the password and click
      Continue.
    • Startup Repair will now start Diagnosing your PC, and will attempt to automatically repair it.

We'll be waiting for your reply.

  3. Cannot go into recovery mode in several ways

    Problem:

Cannot login into normal mode or safe mode or access anything other than Boot settings.

    • Do not get usual login screen.
    • Seeing Automatic repair and then BSOD with code 0xc000014c
    • That loop continues.
    Troubleshooting Steps taken:

    • Tried 3 times reset when in "Preparing Automatic Repair" to boot into recovery mode - Failed.
    • Created bootable WIndows 10 USB flash drive to go into repair mode - Getting another BSOD with code "Driver pnp watchdog"
    • Some times, after "Preparing automatic repair" screen, i get "Your pc needs to be repaired" recovery screen where it shows F8 to go into Startup settings. When i press F8, i get the same screen again in a loop.
