Windows 10: Hard drive shows up in This PC, but not Intel Rapid Storage

I have two eternal hard drives hooked up to my motherboard. I can see them both in This PC and can copy and delete files from both. I actually wiped them both clean and formatted them on this new PC that I just built, and everything seemed fine until I installed Intel Rapid Storage software. It immediately gave me a warning saying something was wrong. I opened it and it only shows one of the two external drives. The same drive shows up in the File History Backup feature, while the other one does not. It doesn't give any info about the issue or error with the other drive. What can I do to troubleshoot this? Thanks.

This issue might occur when the drivers are not updated properly.

I suggest to download the latest Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver from manufacturer’s website and install it.

Intel Rapid Storage?

I have noticed this in recent years and my ole socket 1150 includes this tech.

Now, my question regarding this is; I am running a 256 gig SSD and want to add a mechanical hard drive to gain more storage capacity.

Does Intel Rapid Storage do that using a mechanical hard drive without hindering the speed of the SSD?

Also, and probably the main reason for wanting more space, whats the best way to install Steam games on a second hard drive?

Is there a specific folder that one has to create in order for Steam games to run properly on the second drive?



Sorry for all these questions, however I much appreciate any help/suggestions for adding a drive to hold games on.

On a desktop computer, Rapid Storage Technology would allow multiple hard drives to be grouped together and presented to the operating system as one drive (RAID). To better understand and assist you with this concern, we would like to clarify the
following information:

• Are you experiencing an issue that required you to install Intel Rapid Storage Technology?
• Are you using a RAID setup on your computer? If using a single hard drive, are you in AHCI mode?
• Have you downloaded Intel Rapid Storage Technology from the official Intel website?

In the meantime, make sure that you have downloaded the correct installer that corresponds to your Windows build and version.
