This is just a theory, but If you invented a computer that could transfer physical memory into cpu ram or gpu memory, could you theoretically improve performance and have "infinite" performance if you have ssd's or usb's in this theoretical computer? I'm no programmer I have just been thinking a lot about this.

    :)

  2. System Performance

    Hi Richard,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.

Appreciate your efforts to work on this issue.

    Happy New Year!

Please answer these questions to get more clarity on this issue:

    1. What is the make and model of the PC?
    2. What is the free space available on the C drive?

System performance is typically the result of either a software problem, a full hard drive, or a faulty hardware.

The best way to diagnose the cause for a slow-performing computer is to work through a list of possible steps until you navigate and dig down deeper to notice a change. Keep in mind that computers will always slow down as they age, meaning that a 5-
or 6-year-old computer won't usually run as fast as it used to.

Method A: Suggest you to put the PC in a clean boot state and check if that helps with this issue. A “clean
    boot
” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.

Note: Your computer may temporarily lose some functionality while in a clean boot environment, however, that functionality will return when you reset the computer to start normally after you have finished your troubleshooting.

Method B: Suggest you to follow the steps from this article one by one to check if that makes any difference.

Tips to improve PC performance in Windows 10:

Note: Restoring from a restore point won’t affect your personal files, but it will remove apps, drivers, and updates that were installed after the restore point was created.

When you reset your PC, you can choose whether you want to keep your personal files or remove them, then have Windows reinstalled. Back up the data on the hard drive before deciding on reset.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,

Hard drive space turning into power / performance to increase your computers performance

Is it Safe to Increase the Virtual Memory above the recommended and will it improve Performance?

    Hi Senuke

Typically, virtual Memory is set and managed by Windows, and you should continue to let Windows manage that, and most of the information you find on the Internet relates to older versions of Windows and low powered PC's

To understand this better, RAM is very fast memory, and hard drive access is slow, so increasing virtual memory will definitely not make your PC faster, because of the data transfer rate to your hard drive

If you want to increase the performance of your PC, buy another stick of RAM or if you have a standard hard drive, buy an SSD, that is the single biggest boost to performance you can have . . .
