Hard drive won't boot at first startup

Problem started about two days ago, my laptop has been turned off for four days, I turned it on only to find the internal hard drive disk D: missing, I tried finding it in disk management, device manager, and later even in BIOS and it doesn't show up on all three. I've tried restarting and powering off and on and it would show up from time to time, just never during the first startup, only today I found out that if I turn on my laptop, leave it for a bit, put it to sleep then turn it back on, the hard disk would make a noise and it would show up, so it appears that the hard disk simply doesn

  3. System restore failed and now my computer won' t boot at all

    Hi Bjørn,

To address this concern, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

    Method 1:

Disconnect all the external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) drives, etc...) except mouse and the keyboard and then boot up. If this corrects the issue then add the devices back one at a time until you discover the
piece of hardware causing the issue. Then get any updated drivers\software for the device.

    Method 2:

Perform a Startup repair from Advance boot option

    • Boot your computer using a Windows 10 CD/ DVD or System Repair Disc.

    • Select the correct time and keyboard type.

    • Click on Repair your computer in the lower left corner.

    • Select Troubleshoot from the Choose an option screen.

    • Click on Advanced options in the Troubleshoot screen.

    • Click on Startup Repair from the Advanced Options screen.

    • Next, choose the operating system.

    • Windows 10 will look for problems on hard drive(s) and verify that all required files are intact.

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us and we would be happy to help.

  4. Hard drive won't boot at first startup

    Overclock your hard drive!!!

Heres a much easier hack that I realized quite a few years ago that really does work!

    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Hard drive with molex power connection.
    • PSU with more than 1 strand that has molex plugs on it.
    • Wire strippers, soldering iron if you're fancy, electrical tape if you're not.
    STEPS:
    • Take the strand of connectors from your PSU, and decide which one will be the donator for this overclocking adventure.
    • Cut the yellow and orange cables, then twist them together.
    • Find the power connector you've chosen as the overclocking connector, and release the orange cable from the connector. Now use your preferred method to bind them together, then place it back together.
    • Plug in a drive and feel the speed!
Congratulations! You've just overclocked your hard drive!
