  1. Hard Drives becomes very slow for no apparent reason

I am going to start by saying I tried everything I could find on this online. But basically here is what happens:1. Computer works fine2. I can use the HDD that has issues generally for a while copy files to and from, etc. Work pretty fast3. Out of the blue during file operations it starts dropping the speed and sometimes stops but most cases settles between 2.4 Kb/s - 20 Kb/s4. Opening file explorer to browse the drive shows working on it for 5 - 10 min before anything showsSo far the only solution I found to get it back to normal is:1. Reboot the PC or2. Leave the PC alone overnight and in

  2. Hard Drives becomes very slow for no apparent reason

Hi, I’m Nicole, I’ll be happy to help you out today.

Based on your description, it sounds like your hard drive is experiencing intermittent performance issues that are not related to a specific file or operation. Here are a few more troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check the hard drive for bad sectors: You can use a disk utility tool like CrystalDiskInfo or HD Tune to scan the drive for bad sectors. If the tool finds any bad sectors, it could be an indication that the drive is failing and should be replaced.

Check the drive for fragmentation: Large files or frequently modified files can cause the drive to become fragmented over time, which can impact performance. You can use a tool like Defraggler to defragment the drive and improve performance.

Check the system for malware or viruses: Malware or viruses can cause the system to slow down and may also impact hard drive performance. Use a reputable anti-virus software to scan the system and remove any threats.

Check the power supply: In rare cases, an insufficient power supply can cause hard drive performance issues. Check that the power supply is providing enough power to the system and upgrade if necessary.

Check the BIOS settings: Check that the SATA controller is set to AHCI mode and not IDE mode. AHCI mode is faster and more modern, while IDE mode can cause slow performance.

Check the event log: The event log may contain useful information about the hard drive performance issues. Look for any error messages related to the hard drive and troubleshoot accordingly.

If none of the above steps solve the issue, it may be time to consider replacing the hard drive.

    Regards

    Overclock your hard drive!!!

Heres a much easier hack that I realized quite a few years ago that really does work!

    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Hard drive with molex power connection.
    • PSU with more than 1 strand that has molex plugs on it.
    • Wire strippers, soldering iron if you're fancy, electrical tape if you're not.
    STEPS:
    • Take the strand of connectors from your PSU, and decide which one will be the donator for this overclocking adventure.
    • Cut the yellow and orange cables, then twist them together.
    • Find the power connector you've chosen as the overclocking connector, and release the orange cable from the connector. Now use your preferred method to bind them together, then place it back together.
    • Plug in a drive and feel the speed!
Congratulations! You've just overclocked your hard drive!
