Windows 10: Hard-freeze after Win10 upgrade

Hi all,

You were all so helpful in getting me through my last Win10 experience that I decided to give it another go *Smile

I just finished upgrading my kids' PC from Win7 to Win10, and since the upgrade the system has been hard-freezing -- no responsiveness from mouse or keyboard, screen frozen in place.

I'd heard that there may be issues with USB drivers (since the motherboard is fairly old), so I reinstalled the latest from Gigabyte earlier today, but no dice.

Any advice would as always be appreciated! Thanks in advance,

3/14 Win10 Update

All was well until last week's WIN10 update. Now my Toshiba Satellite L755 Laptop is terribly balky, with multiple "mice" constantly freezing and then jumping around making it impossible to navigate Win10 and any software including Office 365. Please note
that after two days of attempting to reboot, reset Win10 and starting up from a USB drive; I reformatted the hard drive, reinstalled Win7 (with none of the problems noted above), and then upgraded again to Win10 only to have the same problems reappear.

Suggestions??

You wouldn't have the Limited Periodic Scanning option since you don't have a third-party anti-virus application installed and since you're not running Win10 1607.

So why was it necessary to add that DWORD value? Now that you've done so, will the computer still "freeze" after upgrading to Win10 1607? If the "freezing" returns and you rollback to Win10 1511, what are you planning to do when support (and updates) for
Win10 1511 is retired in the not-too-distant future?
