Windows 10: Hard hang on Thinkpad T490, hardware problem?

Hi everyone,The problem is quite simple to describe, but apparently not to solve, the system hangs at random moments and then shuts itself downor I shut it down, with no obvious error messages. This isn't something new, it happened the first time two weeks after I bought this laptop Lenovo Thinkpad T490, shipped with Windows 10 Pro. For some time it seemed like this problem went away after reinstalling the OS, but after some months it happened again. Same thing when I updated to Windows 11.I tried almost everything, I reinstalled OS completely without keeping files and programs, I tried

Windows 10 hangs/freezes on Restart

If this happens even during installation, that means that it is probably a hardware issue. To troubleshoot the problem, I suggest doing the following steps:

1. Install Hard Disk Sentinel and use it to check your HDD/SSD for problems.
   
2. Use MemTest to make sure that your RAM is ok. Here is a how to - guide.
   

After You done these two steps, give a feedback of the results.

 

Thinkpad T510 is bricked after entering PIN in setup

I bought it from a reputable dealer on eBay on July 6th. No history given, except the dealer formatted theHD and tested everything. The listing says No Returns. But he may be open to an exchange. LENOVO THINKPAD T510 15.6” i5 M520 2.40ghz 4GB Ram 500gb HDD DVD RW W/ Charger | eBay
Before I press for that I'm going to try the steps you've suggested further down in this thread.

Thank you for the reply, Louie. I looked at all the suggestions in the link, but I've done everything there already. As an additional piece of information, I have now tried it with a second laptop (Thinkpad T490) and I have the same result: the maximum
resolution listed is 1920x1080. Both of these laptops work fine on the screen at 3440x1440 when using wired connections.
