    Hard line focus rectangle instead of dotted turned on by mistake


    Somehow I changed the focus rectangle from settings from the usual dotted one to a hard lined one with and extra line that is even lingering after pressing the focused item. Moreover, in some input boxes, for example in settings search, the there is a box around the current letter now, which is also very annoying. How can I disable them to return to the default versions?

    Removing Windows 10 double focus rectangle

    For some reason, Windows 10 started showing double (thick) focus rectangle for desktop icons and listview items. It is 2 pixels thick.

    How do I go back to single pixel (thin) focus rectangle as it originally used to be (1 pixel thick dotted rectangle)?

    The screenshots are from desktop icons but it shows on any standard listview control.

    So to be clear, I do not want to remove the focused rectangle, I want to make it thinner again.

    The constant dotted line box.

    I found by using the TAB key to move the focus to the Start button and/or clicking on the desktop can make it disappear. This dotted line box persistence seems associated with the TAB key for me.
