Windows 11 23H2 Build 22631.4037In windows 11 is it possibe to set the default windows playback and record settings using the Registry or in the Group Policy? When ever I shut down and reboot my laptop, regardless of which option I set as default in the "Sound Settings" panel it always defaults to my external Audio Interface rather than windows of internal drivers. This means my interface is not available to any of my Audio Software which needs exclusive use of my Audio Interfaces drivers. In previous Windows iterations this did not used to happen. Many thanks.

    :)

    Lock recording and playback settings?

Well I know nothing of the program you speak of but perhaps right clicking the Windows Speaker icon in the System tray and choosing "Open Volume mixer" may be of interest? You can't "lock" the settings there though....

Outside of that, I'm surprised you can't do what you wish from within the "WSJT-X" app itself. Anyway I've no other suggestions.

    Good luck.

    Setting default audio playback

I've had trouble with Rocksmith 2014 remastered and sent an email to Ubisoft forum and they told me to do the following to fix the problem:
This issue is almost always solved by changing the default audio playback to be DVD quality.

    1. Navigate to Control Panel --> Hardware and Sound --> Sound.
    2. Highlight the default Playback device and select Properties.
    3. On the Advanced tab, set the default format to be 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality).

Only thing is, when I get to the last step, it won't let me change the default format. There is no button and the numbers (16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)) are greyed out. How do I do what they are saying?

    Lock recording and playback settings?

What you show above is just the output levels. When I go into 'Sounds', I get tabs with recording, playback, etc and makes it easy to adjust levels from there. The app has it's own settings but does not adjust the OS levels.

I think it was in XP that there was a 2nd party app that was maybe sort of a batch file or perhaps an exe that set the recording/playback levels in the OS. It just made it easy to set without going through a bunch of menus or drop downs.

Lock recording and playback settings?: Seems to me that in the past, maybe XP, I could either lock the playback/recording settings or perhaps it was a 2nd party program that set them to predefined levels.
