Windows 10: Hardrive data about to be lost.

Hello everyone. I need help with the best way to recover my data from my hardrive.Its format got changed as accidently when I was trying to backup windows using the backup. I have been reading alot to try and get this data back to HOW IT WAS. I believe the data on the drive is still there and healthy as i have not moved it or put any new data onto it.I would like to know how to recover the file tree/structure/MBRmaster root record. I have read that MBR recovery can help put the correct/default format back on the drive, therefore recovering the files/folder structure. If anyone knows what I

Well, I'm sorry to hear that it's a WD My Passport that failed on you, @tomhenry ! *Frown
I'd recommend you to try using a different USB cable with it and see if that will help your system to detect it without it disconnecting.
I'd also suggest you to go to Disk Management and see how the drive is listed there. It won't hurt to check up on the health and SMART status of the HDD by running the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from the WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics. Transfer Data from PDA to New Hardrive

When you set up a new partnership between a mobile device and a computer, Active Sync or WMDC will prompt you on the very first sync with three options:

• Combine the data on the mobile device with the data on the computer: Choosing this option is your best bet. If you have data on both devices, you may wind up with some duplication, but you won't lose any data.
  
• Overwrite the data on the mobile device with the data on the computer: this option assumes that all the data is on the computer, so any unique data on the mobile device will be lost
  
• Do Nothing

Here's what I suggest:

Backup the data on your mobile device to an SD card

Delete any existing syncing partnerships and set up the partnership over again

Sync your mobile device and choose the COMBINE option when prompted

Having a backuo on hand is desirable because you can always restore your data back to your mobile device if something does not go as expected.

 

Hardrive Dead - Anyway to recover Data?

Hi, my fathers computer's hardrive died last night (atleast, i think so) the computer will just start up and once it gets to the windows loading screen, will just restart, i tried to put the hardrive in my computer and access it to get his files, but when i try it just sais that it's corrupted.

I know there have been ways to recover data even when the hardrive has died / corrupted, is it possible i could do this?
