Windows 10: Hardware and Devices Troubleshooting Error Code: 0x8000FFFF

Dear super smart person,


I noticed my mouse cursor dragging and slowing my system on my new laptop but now I'm finding another issue...

Since my mouse seems to randomly slow the OS and drag intermittently across the screen I decided to try an automatic troubleshoot to resolve this.


But then I ran into a more troubling troubleshooting error....

I've been at this for days now still trying to resolve and "troubleshoot the troubleshooter"...

I've searched numerous forums and tried multiple suggestions for resolve.

If you're thinking of replying with a solution I feel I may have most likely already tried that....


Here is the issue described as clearly as possible;


Open the Troubleshoot System Settings > Hardware and Devices > Run The Troubleshooter >>


Detecting Problems Runs for about 30 seconds then pops up with exactly this;

An unexpected error has occurred. The troubleshooting wizard can't continue.

^ This is the above error I now get every time I try to run the troubleshoot wizard on my newish ASUS laptop. I feel I've tried everything except writing up one of these questions... P.S. If anyone has a quick fix for my original issue with my sticking mouse cursor, that will also be of some help. I'm sure the mouse issue is fairly common and a lot easier to fix than this baffling "0x8000FFFF".
