Windows 10: hardware device connected via USB to RS232 cable doesn't get recognized

i have a device that has RS232 port to connect it to the computer so i bought USB to RS232 cables.i tried two cables, one of them has prolific 2303 HXD chip, other one has FT232R from FTDI.my computer do recognize both ports and the drivers work well,however the device that's connected on the other end doesn't seem to be recognized by the computer, the software for this device says nothing's connected.i tried a bunch of different settings on the drivers, every single combination of baud rate and flow control, messed around with some of the advanced settings but nothing has made any difference.

Hi yall and thanks for the replies!



Unfortunately, the were of no help.



The phone isn`t listed in device manager, the list of devices doesn`t change if I have my phone connected to my computer(s). There are no mystery devices, no yellow triangle -markings or anything even remotely pointing to the direction the phone being connected.

It could be that my phone has a broken usb port, but it makes me wonder that it still charges the battery when connected to a computer.



This is not a big problem for me, that I must admit, but still, it kinda bugs me that the phone doesn`t work the way it`s supposed to work,



Anyways, if somebody comes up with something that might help, I am most grateful.

edit: Also, I have my laptop almost always connected to charger. Tried without charger just for the heck of it, didn`t help.

 

Some USB Devices not recognized in Windows 10

Hi have Windows 10 Pro insider preview 10532 64bit Pro Intel i7 desktop PC.

I have multiple USB devices connected, USB 3 & 2. The USB HDD is working however my Samsung phone and kindle are no longer being recognized. The steps followed so far:

• Uninstalled all USB devices in device manager including controllers
• Flashed BIOS to latest version
• Updated USB drivers for the devices from manufacturers sites
• Tried new USB cables

Please note: both devices are recognized by my Windows 10 Lenovo laptop.

I really don't want to fresh install, please suggest any diagnostics I can try.

You may receive this error if one of your USB connected devices is not properly recognized by the system. Let's try the troubleshooting steps provided by

In addition, we suggest that you turn off the notifications from the USB by following these steps:

• Open Settings by typing "settings" in Cortana's search box.
• Click on Devices.
• Locate USB and toggle the switch to Off.
