Windows 10: Has anyone else experienced system and app-store icons going invisible in the Task Bar...

I know that this problem has appeared many times in this community and has been answered before, except in my case it is *not* due to a corrupted user profile. Just to be clear, after trying almost everything else previously suggested I created a new user account/profile. It has exactly the same problem, viz:Any MS App Store apps are now invisible in the Task Bar. Furthermore, if I install today's Cumulative Update Preview KB5023778 then all the system icons eg. Settings, MS App Store become invisible too.So I presume it is not a corrupt user profile, nor does resetting the App Store fix i

• Have you made any recent changes on your Windows 10 prior to this issue?
• What is the current build and version number of your Windows 10? To check, press the Windows key, type winver, and press the Enter key.
• Do you have another user account? Are you also experiencing the same issue on another user account?
• Have you tried pinning the applications on the task bar? Are they still invisible? If not, are they still visible after a reboot?

Meanwhile, we suggest that pin some applications on the task bar and proceed to

safe mode. Please verify if there will be any changes or if the task bar icons will still be visible.

What happened to my mail icon on the task bar?

Hi,

So this command successfully removed mail app. I rebooted and was able to download the mail app from the store, but problem remains. Pinning the mail app to my task bar results in an invisible icon.

I noticed when this problem first started (with Creator update), that the icon for mail was now missing from the icon folder in System32 files. Instead, the mail folder is associated with a blank page in my apps list. I tried changing the icon image to
another image, but it is still invisible on the task bar.

Invisible Task Bar Icons

I recently got the April update, and since then, the Store and Kindle app icons on my task bar have gone invisible. The space for the icons are still there. If I mouse over them, the name pops up. If I left click on them they open the appropriate app. If
I right click on them, nothing happens, I don't get the menu to unpin them. If I mouse over them when the app is open, it does not show the preview of open windows.

Steps I have taken to troubleshoot:

- I ran “sfc /scannow” in Power Shell as an admin

- I ran “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” in Power Shell as an admin

I also saw instructions to pull up a troubleshooting app in the store, but the instructions seem to be out of date. (The where posted 2 years ago).

Please let me know what further information I can provide. If you can tell me where to find the logs for the SFC and DISM, I would be happy to provide them.
