Windows 10: Has Microsoft published anything on the probem with System Restore and OneDrive?

Please respond to this if what I'm posting here is outdated. I hope it is. As far as I know, Microsoft has not published anything on the problem with Windows letting users make system restore points that can never be restored. There are probably many users who will not discover that their restore points are useless until they've lost everything.


It's been well documented for months now that all recent versions of Windows 10 allow users running OneDrive to make restore points that won't work. No warning message is produced. The user thinks he has a good restore point. But he can never restore from it because it was made when his system was running OneDrive.

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

 

How do I unblock a publisher in windows 10?

I have gone through the steps as suggested above BUT interestingly don't see an publisher listed under the "Untrusted Publishers" but still get the same error box as shared above.

The software publisher won't appear in the Untrusted Publisher tab. Since, the steps you've provided didn't work, you unblock the publisher using Command Prompt. Please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows X, then select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Press Shift + right-click on the program you want to unblock.
• Click Copy as path, then paste in Command Prompt.
• Hit Enter.
