Windows 10: Has the preview pane not showing certain file types ever been resolved?

Windows 11I am having an issue that apparently has been discussed in forums for quite some time, but I can't seem to find if any resolution has ever been confirmed. In the File Manager preview pane, certain file types will not show a preview. I do have "Show preview handlers in preview pane" checked File Manager / Options / View I have also run at the command prompt: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and once complete: sfc /scannow This did not turn up any issues. The file types in question worked in preview pane on my Windows 7 computer, but

Preview Pane Not Working For Some File Types

After upgrading user's computer to Windows 11, he cannot preview some documents in the preview pane (he could prior to the update).

They are files created by Siemens NX application and have the file type .prt

The preview pane works for your normal stuff like .pdf or .txt files.

Issue happens for existing files on the network as well as newly created .prt files

Troubleshooting already performed:

• Restart Windows Explorer
  
• Restore File Explorer settings to default
  
• Ran SFC, DISM, and chkdsk tools
  
• The application creating the files was reinstalled
  
• Re-installed Windows 11 (multiple times)
  
• File explorer options
  
  • 'show preview handlers in the preview pane' checkbox is checked
    
  • 'always show icons, never thumbnails' is unchecked
    
• Tried the performance option of 'adjust for best appearance'

Setting the Preview pane to show or hide in File Explorer will apply to all folders. If you wish to hide the Preview pane in File Explorer, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

• Open File Explorer.
• Tap on View tab.
• Click Preview Pane to view/hide it.

Preview pane doesn't work in Windows 10

2. Which version of Windows you are using?
   
3. Since when are you facing this issue?
   

The Preview pane shows the contents of certain files selected in File Explorer. For images, it is a thumbnail preview.

If you are unable to preview in File explorer, I suggest you to try the below steps.

1. Open a new File Explorer window and click the View tab from the ribbon toolbar.
   
2. Click Options, and then click Change folder and search options to open Folder Options dialog.
   
3. Check the Show preview handlers in preview pane box, and click/tap on OK.​
