    have a pc here which when told to sleep shuts down, instantly awakes


    As soon as the power button turns yellow, it turns green and screen is back for a login
    powercfg /requests show none for all.
    I set sleep plan to reset to defaults and set to important wake timers only.

    This is a desktop optiplex 755

    PC Sleep will not awake

    When I set my Win 10 PC to sleep when I close the lid, it goes to sleep. The problem is that I cannot get it out of sleep and the only thing that I can do is to press the power button until the PC shuts off. Then I can restart the PC normally.

    Any ideas on how I can fix this?

    PC gets "stuck" in sleep mode

    Hello,

    There are many ways to shut down your PC, you can turn the PC off completely, you can make it sleep, or you can hibernate the PC.

    Sleep Mode uses very little power, your PC starts up faster, and you’re instantly back to where you left off. You don’t have to worry that you'll lose your work because of your battery draining, because Windows automatically saves all
    your work and turns off the PC if the battery is too low.

    "To make your PC sleep" troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

    I understand that your PC is shutting down itself when you are copying some data through external storage.



    1. Are you aware of any changes made to the PC prior to which you weren’t facing this issue?
    2. Do you face the same issue with all the external devices or only with one particular?


    Meanwhile, I would suggest you to try changing the sleep setting options and see if that helps.



    1. Press Windows +
      I key to open Settings.
    2. Click on System and then click on
      Power & sleep.
    3. Under Sleep change the settings to
      Never.


    Once you change the settings the PC will not go to Sleep mode/shut down itself until you choose to do it.
