Hi all, Thank you in advance for your assistance. To help manage my son's computer access and play time, I've created a task to warn then shutdown the computer automatically at a preset time. My account is an administrator. His account is a user account.At first, it ran successfully and my child was forced off the system. However, after a short period of time, we found that the task wasn't working. So I enabled history of the task, and found that according to the history, "the user has disabled the task"I thought I had it locked down where the user would be unable to disable a scheduled t

i found a recommendation to enable . here -->

Meanwhile, I suggest that you try starting the Task Scheduler through command line. To do so, please follow these steps:

• Open Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type this net start task scheduler and hit Enter.

No permission to disable a task in Task Scheduler

You keep talking about a "folder". Task scheduler items are files, not
folders, even though they have no name extension (i.e. no full stop or anything else to the right of the name).

I suspect the task is protected through its entry in the registry. You need to open the registry editor (regedit.exe), then do this:

• Navigate to this key:
  
  HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Schedule\TaskCache\Tasks\
• Find "UpdateOrchestrator", using Ctrl+F. It will be against a key such as
  
  {AB62362D-3EF5-4BD4-92E1-D96143FD8738}
• Change the owner of the key to "Administrators"
• Grant full access to "Administrators".
  

You then need to take the same four steps with this key:
