Have a spare surface book and loaned it to a friend. He created a pin/password and does not remember it. How do I log into the computer?

Remember PIN but forgot password

Here you go:

1. Log on with your PIN.
2. Create a desktop shortcut for cmd.exe.
3. Right-click this shortcut, then left-click Run as administrator.
4. Accept the challenge. This will give you a black frame.
5. Type these commands exactly:
   
   net user "%UserName%" 123456
   
   (to set your password to 123456)
   
   net user Spare abcdef /add
   
   (to create a spare account with a password of abcdef)
   
   net localgroup administrators Spare /add
   
   (to give the spare account admin privileges)
6. Make a record of the spare account details so that you will be able to use it several years from now.

Why create a spare admin account? Well, everyone has a spare house key, for obvious reasons, and everyone needs a spare Windows account, for much the same reasons, as you just found out for yourself!
