Windows 10: Have a Surface Pro running Win Pro 8.1. Downloaded and tried to install Win 10 Home....

Tried to upgrade my wife's Surface Pro running Win 8.1 Pro to Win 10 Home Edition.Purchased the operating system online and installed on her Surface Pro.The installation failed after going through the install procedure.

Just bought a second hand surface pro and trying to install win 10 pro which I assume came with the machine. However when I link to my Microsoft account the build shows its out of date. My desktop is running win 8. Also not allowing me to install updates
as it seems to be linked to an insider build. how would I install win10 pro and receive updates on the surface. I have tried update troubleshooter and it fails to validate

Win 8 Pro install

How do I install Win 8 Pro after replacing my broken drives. I have the Win 8 Pro install disc that I bought. I also made a download of Win 10 on a USB key. Every time I open the laptop(ASUS G73JH), I get the message that there is no operating system.
Can Anyone suggest some method. I am 81 and a bit computer savvy but I can't the portable going after changing the two discs.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Again thank you. That is what i initially assumed. It is a surface pro 4 and i know it came with win 10 pro but thr last owner reset so it was a new instal. However every time i switch on a message indicates its time to instal a new build and win 10 is out
of date 2/7/2018 which is obviously incorrect. I have tried updating but the update gets stuck on insider build which i would not wish to use anyway. On checking license status it indicates my surface is authenticsted and win 10 pro with a digital license.
I cannot get any updates. Have tried to inlink from the insider build but it will not allow. I have tried downloading MS troubleshooter for updates and it will not run due to an authentication issue.

I have also tried unlinking from my MS account but that makes no difference either. As far as i can see win10 pro is installed. Its connected to a digital license but the system is trying to install unsuccessfully an insider build. I have no idea why when
i switch on a message tells me its time to update to a new build. Have not tried reinstalling win as yet. Date and time is correct.
