Windows 10: Have a Windows 10 Education that is expiring. What do I do?

So I bought a laptop for college 5 years ago that came with Windows 10. A couple years later, I started getting pop ups to say to upgrade to Windows 10 for free. I knew my uni also gave free Windows 10 licenses so I took my laptop to IT and they installed it for me.

I didn't realize the Windows 10 Education would expire once I graduate and now I get pop ups telling me to update the product key, which I don't have. Do I need to buy a Windows 10 key?

Windows 10 Education - does it expire or not

If you are downloading Windows 10 Education from Microsoft Imagine, it is actually full version that does not expire.

Volume License versions of Windows 10 Enterprise and Education that do expire use different methods of deployment. In such a case, the machine it is installed on is already configured for you or the media is configured so it skips prompting you for a key.
Activation status is maintained by authenticating on organizations domain or through VPN every 180 days.

In your case, this would not apply. I would strongly advise you keep the Windows 10 Education key safe though. If you loose it, its gonna be hard to get a replacement key, especially if you are no longer enrolled in the institution.

Just to be safe, I would first recommend you upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, then perform the Easy Upgrade to Windows 10 Education.

windows 10 pro to windows education then activation expires

We have a windows 10 pro in our pc, then after an automatic update it was upgraded to windows education and a pop up says that our windows license is about to expire, so we activate it again using windows 10 pro activation key, then the windows edition
goes back to Windows 10 pro but is not activated, It says cant activate because we dont have a digital license or product key. Error code:0xC004C003. We follow some trouble shooting steps in command promt but still same result. We have a CD and COA sticker.
