Have doc & data files on a cd Win 10 won't replace them

I have always made a copy of folders and files on CDs which I periodically refresh. There are hundreds of them. Have tried to copy a folder, or even three files at a time to the CD and Win10 tells me that I don't have enough room on the disc. If I copy an individual file it tells me that there is a file of that name and do I want to replace it.
Is there no way to copy a number of files or a folder full of files and update them?
Years ago we used to use a program -something like WinZip or WMatch to do this. Anyone have an idea of a program compatible with Win 10? Thanks muchly.

    :)

Files missing to create recovery media Win 10

After intermittent mobo problems and replacing mobo, tried to create recovery CD for Win 10. Message "cannot create recovery media, some files missing"

This is a dual boot Win 7 home premium 64bit system. Win 10 installed from iso CD on SSD after HD change but pre mobo change and no problems with CHKDSK now. How an I define missing files and replace them ? Possibility is that mobo caused corruption but
system working OK and only problem is creating recovery CD/USB.

Can't copy or import scanned documents from my printer/scanner to a Document File Folder.

I now have Windows 10 for 1 month trial use. I scanned several pages and was asked to save them, which I did. Now I can't get at them to copy or move them to a folder in Scanned Doc or Doc or Picture Files They are bmp files and won't open.

The problem with a CD is it will hold only just a but under 700MB [MegaBytes]. A DVD will hold a bit under 4.7GB [GigaBytes]. It's also important to use either R discs [Recordable once, can't be changed] or RW discs [ReWriteable]. The RW discs can be erased and reused. Some recording programs can keep the R disc open for adding more data but I have seen folks have issues with that including myself so I purchase either the 50-disc or 100-disc 'cakeboxes' of R discs at about 30 cents each, cheaper that the old floppy discs, and it ensures I can use the disc on any computer with an ODD [Optical Disc Drive]. I've never considered using CDs or DVDs for direct editing, sometimes requires leaving the disc in the drive which can cause issues for a program or playing other discs.

If you are going to regularly save documents and update them, you should probably use a USB Flash Drive. Unlike CD-RW discs, which will not read on another computer unless you Finalize the disc, making it unable to add any more files or overwrite files and not being able to overwrite more then one file at a time. Flash Drives can be overwritten with large groups of files not just one by one. And will read on many computers. RW discs and Flash drives are volatile and should not be used as your only means of Backup. If these files are important to you, you should also have an External USB HDD and or Cloud Storage.

Thanks for your replies. There seems to be a bit of confusion here and it's probably my fault for not using the correct terms.

I've been using the same discs for years before I changed to windows 10, and that change is the only thing that has changed. Many of these files have only changed by a few KB, so the issue of the size of disc is not relevant. (Yes, I do have an external drive for continuous backup.) It didn't seem like there was a problem changing from XP to 7, so why the problems now?

You were probably using discs that had been formatted for reuse using a program like Roxio Drag to Disc (or something like that, Nero had one too).

CD/RW discs can be re-written only so many times before they start to fail or have issues. Get yourself a USB Flash drive that is large enough, copy All of your data discs that you use for your documents to the USB flash drive. Now you should be able to overwrite to your hearts content without issue on one drive.
