Windows 10: Have to activate Windows again but there's an urgent problem

I was never the tech person so this is way beyond my expertise. A couple of years ago I got my laptop as a gift from my family. At that point it already had Windows 10 installed and it worked completely fine until some time ago. I suddenly got the "Activate Windows" thing on my screen again. I went to settings to check if everything was fine and if I recall correctly, it said it was expired or something. Time passed and now it tells me "We can't activate Windows on this device as we can't connect to your organization's activation server" and I don't know what to do about that. As I said, this

I suggest you to activate the copy of Windows 10 via phone by following the steps below:

• Press “Windows key + R” and type “slui 4” and press Enter.
• Select your Region/Country.
• Select the Phone Activation option, and hold on for a real person.
