Hello, I am having an Acer Aspire 3 running Windows 10 Home. Last day I tried to update AMD graphics drivers using AMDs auto updation tool. Installation was fine but after restart, it was always getting stuck after showing the loading animation. Auto-repair didn't help, reset was not working. I tried creating new bootable usb drive using media creation tool and installing fresh by erasing the drive. But every time it restarts, I need to enter bios and simply hit save and exit without changing any value, for windows to boot. otherwise it will get stuck. I tried updating BIOS, pulling out CMOS b

    Saving boot device in BIOS

    Hi Deuxdad

Please explain what you mean by you do not get to save the BIOS setting?

Have you tried clicking on Restore Defaults in BIOS, that should reset the boot device permanently

Also when you go to exit BIOS are you not asked if you wish to save the changes?

For most BIOS if you press F10, that will prompt 'Do you want to save changes and Exit BIOS', that would be worth a try . . .

  3. Bios will not save boot order

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the input. A quick update, my computer is booting fine. It used to give me the error message associated with the boot manager not being detected.

Oddly, here are the steps that worked...

If I were to go into bios, I won't see my boot drive. If I power off, disconnect and reconnect the SATA cable, and power on, its recognized (quick note, I'm on Intel, and I've connected boot drive to SATA port 1). Then I would boot directly off the drive through bios. Any subsequent boots after that and it loads windows.

Now it seems it doesn't matter. I've been running SimCity all day so far and my PC is mostly stable, except for stupid ATI drivers *Frown Have to get into BIOS and hit save and exit for Windows to boot. :( I'll be starting a thread there next *Smile Have to get into BIOS and hit save and exit for Windows to boot. :)

I'll reset CMOS if this keeps happening.

Dell InsydeH20 BIOS freezes when I try to Save changes and Exit

    Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 7520 (i7 processor) laptop. I recently updated the BIOS to A13 and replaced the DVD drive with a caddy for a second hard drive.

I can boot into the OS on this drive by tapping F12 on boot up and changing the boot order to the DVD drive.

However I cannot make that permanent. There is another BIOS menu where you can change the boot order and then Save and Exit so it will always boot from the DVD drive Sata connector. However when I try to do that the BIOS screen freezes and I have to force a reboot by powering off and on again. When it comes back it boots as usual into the Hard Drive Sata connector.

    1. The "HardDrive" is an SSD and the "DVD drive" is a HDD.
    2. I tried resetting the BIOS settings to defaults and when I did that the only boot options were Harddrive, Network and Network so I did not try to save that change.
    3. Both SSD and HDD have Win 10 installed with Legacy BIOS/MBR and not GPT/EFI.
    4. When I look in the BIOS it says the CMOS battery is working normally.
    5. I can boot from the drive in the DVD drive bay but cannot make it default to that drive at every boot.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers,
