Have to replace my motherboard, will Windows 10 already installed on hard drive still work?...

My motherboard needed to be repaired. I need to install the replacement but I want to know if Windows 10 will boot up normally after swapping motherboards, or do I have to re-install Windows 10? I am swapping out the motherboard with the same model.

Replacing old hard drive, need way to copy Windows installation across

    Hey Guys,
What would be the best way of copying/imaging the entire contents of an old system drive over to a replacement hard disk for the same machine? I need to copy the Windows installations and all other data to the new drive, and then format the old drive to use as a backup.

Any suggestions? *Smile Have to replace my motherboard, will Windows 10 already installed on hard drive still work?... :)

Replacing the Motherboard/CPU and the Hard Drive

If you are replacing your motherboard you will probably need to purchase a new Windows 10 licence as your digital entitlement (which is stored on a Microsoft server, not on a chip) is tied to your motherboard.

It is OK to replace a hard drive or other devices, but the motherboard requires a new licence as it is essentially a new PC!
