  1. Have Windows 10 Pro linked to account for 2 computers...major change in the works. Question...

I have Windows 10 Pro installed on 2 computers that are linked to my Microsoft account, according to the Activation link in Windows for both computers. I have to replace the motherboard for one of the computers and will need to reinstall windows. How or will Microsoft be able to identify which key is appropriate? Will I run into a road block because there are 2 different digital keys tied to the account? Can I see these digital key links in my Microsoft account? Any help with this is appreciated.Thanks...Al

    :)

  2. Zakin Win User

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown Have Windows 10 Pro linked to account for 2 computers...major change in the works. 3. 2 part question......Removing an account AND.....changing a profile Picture

    Hi Carl,

The account that you’re seeing on the login screen of your Windows 10 PC can be removed from the
Settings or using an elevated Command Prompt. To sort out your concern, we suggest that you manage the account by following the steps below:

    • Click Start > Settings > Accounts.
    • For Windows versions 1607 and 1703, click the Family & other users.
    • For version 1709, click Family & other people.
    • Select the account that you want to delete, click Remove, and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
    • After completing the steps, you may check if the issue persists.

You may also use the Command Prompt to delete the account by proceeding with these steps:

    • Click Start, type Command Prompt, right-click on the program and select
      Run as administrator.
    • Type net user and press Enter. It will show the list of accounts on your computer.
    • On the Command Prompt window, enter this command: net user (User account) /delete and press
      Enter. (Example: net user /delete).
    • Once you’re done, this process will automatically remove the account from your computer.

Note: Before doing these steps, restart your PC to make sure that the account that you want to delete is not currently signed in. Additionally, you may be prompted for an administrator password and confirmation of the changes that require
administrative rights. Provide the password and confirm to proceed. Please make sure that you follow the steps with care to avoid any issue.

Furthermore, you may change the account photo on your PC by following the steps provided in this article on how to
change your account picture. Once you’re on the page, you may
proceed with the steps and complete the process. After completing the steps, you may check if you’re able to change the image on your user profile.

Keep us updated about your concern for additional assistance.

  4. Have Windows 10 Pro linked to account for 2 computers...major change in the works. Question...

    Local account installation question

I'm fairly certain that Skip this step was available in 10.0.130 - the workaround in Step 20 (back button) is no longer required.

The currently known, as of 10.0.130, ways to create a Local account sign-in are
    • Skip this step at the MS account creation phase
    • No Internet connection during the install
    • static IP (post# 2 by Fragment) - New (to me anyway)
