Just before the May 2021 Windows Update I got a new email account. Microsoft Online Support said if I deleted the old account Microsoft I would lose anything I ever did when it was my Microsoft Account, Office Purchase, downloads from the Microsoft Store, programs installed for others businesses, Office documents etc. So I did not delete it. What do I need to do now that I have two accounts? I saw something about Alias accounts? I need help with this problem because I currently do not have an administrative account. Right now the profile in the top right hand corner profile is from my Old

You could create a secondary account that is Microsoft account and leave the current one as it is. And it should only sync the Microsoft acc. eneabled user and you can still have your old things as they always were, in case you question MS security and what they might collect about you.

I was thinking of doing that, but it will be a PITA setting everything up on the 2nd account again. I might go that way and just spend the time getting the account in order.

The problem is, I would need to switch at the start of every day. Extra reset and waiting for the settings to be applied etc. Also, I'm not sure whether one drive would be maintained after switching back to a local account. I wouldn't want to have to re-sync every time I logged in. I may have to do some testing to see if onedrive is maintained after switching back to a local account.

 

Quick question about W10 user accounts

Same rule applies domain profiles as well, as the profile director will usually be named username.domain. The standard local profile is usually just username as many of us are familiar with, and the MS profile is a shortened version (at least for my accounts) of the username...or usern would be more appropriate as it seems to use the first 5 characters of my actual username on my MS account. So in that sense they are stored and identified differently by the OS, but could be the same name.
