Windows 10: Having issues connecting to my internet with Asus AC 55 USB wifi adapter

The past couple of months I have had issues connecting to my wifi (Roger's) using my Asus wifi adapter (https://www.amazon.ca/USB-AC55-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC1300-Wi-Fi-Adapter/dp/B00Q6KRLUU). I have had it for several years now all with the same computer, yet only recently I have had no connection to my router with it either saying failed to connect or "No internet, secured".

I am quite certain it's not the adapter and just a driver, as I have a family member with the same wifi adapter, and if I switch them around, it still works for him. I have tried a network reset, uninstalling drivers, installing all the drivers I could find, doing netsh winsock reset, and we recently got a new router for unrelated reasons, but I thought that might change things. This issue used to be a rare occurrence, but now it happens every day for most of the day. There are some occasional moments when it does work, but not often.

In the beginning, it would not work with the 5 Ghz network, and the 2.4 Ghz did work, but now both don't work. I have also tried combining the two under one SSID.

I did also read this adapter has some compatibility issues with windows 10, but as I have previously mentioned, it has worked for a couple of years prior to this. I usually don't update windows 10, and I don't think that's an issue, as once again, it used to work.

I'm quite savvy with computers, but this has really stumped me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ASUS AC-55 Adapter driver support for 5GHz

Hello

since months I am experiencing problems with the ASUS USB AC-55 WiFi adapter.

This adapter is supposed to support 5GHz WiFi, while it worked fine until a few months ago, I am stuck now on 2.4GHz.

This is quite unpleasant since the speeds delivered by 5GHz are way better.

After reading this thread I have found out the driver is now supplied by microsoft itself (installing and uninstalling the asus drivers dont do anything).

Update for ASUS USB AC-55

Can this be looked after? It is unfortunate to have the hardware capable of 5GHz, but not the ability in software to connect to it.

I have multiple computers connected to our WiFi network with this same adapter.

USB Wireless adapter not connecting to Wifi

Hello

I am having trouble making my new USB Wifi Adapter to work. The drivers are working fine but the issue is it is not connecting to wifi.

1. I am using Windows 10
2. The adapter which I am trying to work is Alfa AWUS036NHA 150Mbps
3. I have also one USB mini wifi adapter attached to my other USB through which I am currently using internet

From the above screenshot, the Wi-Fi 2 is which I am trying to connect. When I right-click on Wi-Fi 2 and click on Connect/Disconnect, It shows the already connected Wifi through USB mini adapter.

When I Disable WiFi and try to connect through WiFi 2 then it shows an error "Change settings, such as making a connection metered"

The device utility does not show any Wifi available connections though there are 2-3 wifi connection is there.








any idea how can I make connect to internet using my new Alfa AWUS036NHA 150Mbps Wireless USB Adaptor - Wi Fi 2 on Windows 10 ?

I think you have not choose perfect USB Wifi adapter for gaming. To choose perfect adapter there are few things that you have to keep in mind.
