As you know, Flight Simulator 2020 has/is launching today which means folk can now take to the sky!


This post will walk you though some FAQ we have seen in the community, and will be updated regularly so you can take off without any delays from air traffic control - I mean Microsoft store, or your PC


I have Xbox Game Pass for PC

Xbox Game Pass players for PC can download the standard edition for the game free, as this is included in the subscription - however you do not own the game.

I have Game Pass, played the game, and want to buy it to own it?

You will need to go to the Edition of the game you are wanting to buy, then click buy to own from the store.


How long will the game be in the Game Pass for?

We do not know. This is up to Xbox, and they will remove it when they are adding a new collection of the game. If you are enjoying it, you may want to buy it to keep from the store. Once you have done this, you will be able to take off where you landed.


Is the game available in Windows 10 S Mode?

No, the game is not available in Windows 10 S mode. If you want the game, you would need to come out of S Mode. Please be aware that coming out of S Mode means you will be unable to go back into it. You will also be able to download apps and programs from the Internet.

How do I install the game?

You need to install the relevant game you have purchased though the Microsoft Store.

Can I download the game to D drive instead of C Drive?

Yes, however this has to be done when you launch the simulator for the first time. Please read this article for more information on changing where Flight Simulator is stored:

I want to use Mixed Reality and VR headset for this game, can I?

At the moment, this is not possible. VR support is coming this fall, according to the Xbox Wire here:

How do I get support for Flight Simulator?

There are multiple support avenues you can use for Flight Simulator. You can post in this forum, and we will try and help you the best we can, however, depending on your issue we may have to direct you to another support avenue.

Microsoft Flight Simulator issue after Windows 10 Upgrade

Hi Rahul,



Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.



I suggest you to completely uninstall Microsoft Flight Simulator and check.

Refer the steps below to uninstall.

• Press “Windows key + X”, select Control panel.
• Open programs and features.
• In the list of installed programs, select Microsoft Flight Simulator, and then click
  Remove.

Note: If you have earlier versions of Flight Simulator in the list of installed programs, you will have to remove them in addition to Flight Simulator.



Reinstall the Flight Simulator.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 - PC System Requirements

Dear Microsoft,

I am very excited about purchasing the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 in the future, but first, I need to know some further details about the PC hardware the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 needs for the best smooth performance.

As far as I know, the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 will rely mostly on the CPU and VGA, and will use lots of CPU power and lots of graphics card power

How many CPU cores will be used by the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020?

How much megahertz does each CPU core needs to have for the best performance?

Will a GeForce RTX 2070 series graphics card with 8GB Graphics Card Memory be more than enough for the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, to play the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 on graphics settings on maximum without loosing performance?

If I have the right PC hardware, would it be possible to play the new Microsoft Flight

Simulator 2020 with the Graphics on maximum without loosing performance?
