Having numerous issues with Realtek Audio Drivers and my Headset.

So, ever since upgrading to Windows 10, my headset has been put through hell.

I can't seem to get my mic to work no matter what I do. It shows up in my device manager, it says it's working fine, but it won't pick up a single thing I'm saying. If I rotate the jack around a little bit it makes some static noise, sometimes. I've tried updating my drivers, reverting my drivers, using Microsoft's Drivers, and nothing seems to work. I know it's not the headset, I tried it with my PS4 and it worked perfectly.

I have no clue what to do. I had it working for a few days once on the 2.79 drivers, but then out of the blue it decided to stop picking up anything I said again, and I've been trying to get it working since.

Is there anything I can do?

    :)

    Microphone on headset doesn't work.

    Hi there,

I'm having same issue for 2 days since I upgraded to windows 10.

I have done a lot of search about. You're right in the question: So basically, my question is how do I make audio input go in through my headset's microphone instead of the computer's microphone?

    My working setup was:

    Asus N46VM laptop

    Windows 8.1 Pro

    Audio driver: Audio_Realtek_Win8_64_Z6016685

    Headset Turtle Beach XO Seven

I just had to plug the headset (single 3.5mm jack) to Speakers plug and all worked fine, I mean, audio driver auto switched built-in mic to the headset mic, again my headset has a single 3.5mm jack and I didn't have to use any sort of audio splitter.

After Windows 10 upgrade last Wednesday auto switch is not working anymore.

I tried to update Audio driver to generic Realtek Audio driver R2.79 available in Realtek's website and still not working.

Anyone can help? Or some issue?

    Thank you.

  3. Lost sound

I have lost all sound to my system. Trouble shooter tells me that the Realtek speakers are working and that the audio driver is the Realtek High Definition driver. I can get sound when playing a CD, but only through the headset. Can someone tell me how
    to resolve this issue?

Hi, welcome to Ten Forums *Smile.
"I had it working for a few days once on the 2.79 drivers"
    - can you check what driver version you now have- has that been simply updated by MS?
    - note if you install a different (older or newer) driver version than MS/manufacturer thinks you should have your driver will be overwritten unless you act to protect it.

Does any other microphone work for you?

I'm installing the MOBO-specific drivers from Gigabyte's website for the Z97 Gaming GT Motherboard.

I just bought another Mic, it's a wireless USB connection this time, and the mic still doesn't work. The audio is fine, but no mic functionality. So....I don't think it's the microphones.

I'm not sure what's going on.

  6. Is the driver on the Gigabyte site a Windows 10 driver? If no, try the Realtek site driver.

  7. Forgot to mention, the wireless USB Mic will not be using the Realtek driver or any of the Realtek hardware. That may be an issue of more than one audio device, and the wrong device being set as the source in device manager.

Hey, this is the Realtek Driver I have installed right now from Gigabyte's website.

    Pretty sure it's a Windows 10 Driver.

Also, I'm not sure about the source. I only use one at a time, and it's the only mic installed right now and the only one that shows up in device manager.
